Is Lakes packaging recyclable?
| 25/01/2023Packaging is at the heart of how we can reduce plastic waste, or ensure it is recycled responsibly. In 2019, Lakes was the first in its sector to introduce 100% recyclable packaging, removing approx. 2,000 kilometres of plastic banding a year from landfill, and nearly two million pieces of polystyrene. Our environmental focus extends to 100% recycling of all product waste, primarily glass and aluminium, and all recyclable site and office waste. In addition to reducing the impact on the environment, this new packaging also makes for easier and safer handling. Lakes was a finalist at the prestigious UFEMAT Packaging Awards. UFEMAT is the European association of national builders’ merchants associations and manufacturers. The awards recognise sustainable packaging solutions for construction products, with entries judged on design for recycling, circularity, waste reduction and innovation.
