Privacy Policy
Last updated: 18 May 2026
This privacy policy explains how we collect, use and protect personal information when you visit www.lakesshoweringspaces.com, set up or use a trade account, download a brochure, submit an enquiry or otherwise get in touch with us.
Who we are
Lakes Bathrooms and Living Ltd is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. Our details are:
- Company: Lakes Bathrooms and Living Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 09591196
- Registered office: 106 Elkington Street, Aston, Birmingham, B6 4SL
- Trading address: Alexandra Way, Ashchurch, Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, GL20 8NB
- Email: info@lakesuk.com
- Phone: 01684 853870
What we collect, why and our legal basis for using it
We only use personal information where we have a proper legal basis to do so. Rather than relying on one general basis for everything, this section sets out, activity by activity, what we do with your information and which legal basis applies.
General enquiries and brochure downloads
What: name, email address, phone number and any other information you include in your message.
Why: to respond to your enquiry and send the brochure or information you’ve requested.
Legal basis: Legitimate interests – responding to you when you contact us.
Trade accounts and the trade relationship
What: name, business and contact details, delivery address and details of your trade account, including any credit terms agreed with us.
Why: to set up and manage your trade account, agree and administer credit terms and provide customer service in connection with your account.
Legal basis: Contract – this processing is necessary to perform our contract with you or to take steps you’ve asked us to take before entering into one.
Accounting and tax records
What: invoices, payment records and related transaction data.
Why: to maintain financial accounts and meet our statutory tax and accounting obligations.
Legal basis: Legal obligation – we’re required to keep these records under UK tax and company law.
Credit checks (trade accounts) and fraud or security checks
What: business details, credit history and information from credit reference agencies, plus information needed to detect or prevent fraud or misuse.
Why: to assess creditworthiness when setting up trade account terms and to protect our business, customers and systems from fraud and security risks.
Legal basis: Legitimate interests – we have a legitimate interest in extending credit responsibly and keeping our business and customers safe. We balance this against your rights and won’t use your data this way if our interest is outweighed by your interests or rights.
Automated decision-making
We use credit reference agency information to help assess trade credit applications, but a person always reviews the outcome before any decision is made about your trade account, so this isn’t automated decision-making under UK GDPR.
Marketing newsletters and communications
What: name, email address and information about products you’ve bought or shown interest in.
Why: to send you newsletters, offers and product updates.
Legal basis: Consent, where you’ve actively opted in, or the soft opt-in, where you’re an existing customer and we’re emailing you about similar products or services, having given you the chance to opt out when we collected your details. Either way, you can withdraw consent or unsubscribe at any time using the link in any marketing email or by contacting us.
Who we share your information with
We only share personal information where it’s necessary and only with:
- service providers and delivery partners who help us fulfil orders
- manufacturers, where needed to manage warranties or product queries
- credit reference, fraud prevention and debt collection agencies
- our professional advisers, such as accountants and auditors
- government and law enforcement bodies, including HMRC, where required by law
We never sell your personal data and we only share it for the reasons set out above or where you’ve asked us to.
Transfers of personal data outside the UK
Where we transfer personal data outside the UK, we make sure an appropriate safeguard is in place – for example, the UK’s International Data Transfer Agreement, the EU Standard Contractual Clauses with the UK addendum or a transfer to a country that the UK government has confirmed offers an adequate level of protection.
Contact us at info@lakesuk.com if you’d like more detail about the safeguards in place for a particular transfer.
How long we keep your information
We only keep personal data for as long as necessary for the purpose it was collected, including to meet legal, accounting or reporting requirements. After that, it’s securely deleted or anonymised.
Keeping your information secure
We have appropriate technical and organisational measures in place to protect your personal data against unauthorised or unlawful processing, and against accidental loss, destruction or damage. We review and update these measures as needed.
